A few years ago, video game has not yet appeared, the concept of digital gaming only existed in a few of the laboratories around the world and were the result of experiments made by well known scientists and mathematicians who’d already made a name for themselves in traditional fields, or known Ph.D students.
The first video game ever said to be invented was by a physicist named Willian Higinbotham who designed a simple tennis game quite similar to the 1970s classic Pong which was a great hit with the Brookhaven National Lab open house. Video games are said to have existed since the early 1970s. Computer Space was said to be the first commercial arcade game released in 1971 by Nutting Associates, which was followed by Pong in 1972, developed by the same creator of Computer Space. These two were quite popular during their time, especially Pong which went on to be a commercial success.
With the invention of video games, special video game consoles were developed which were specialized desktop computer designed to play the games. Two of the most popular consoles in today’s market are Sony’s Playstation, Microsoft’s Xbox and Nintendo’s Wii which allows physical participation in activities.
In 1985, Nintendo developed the its Entertainment system which created authentic reproductions of arcade games for home systems which used a pad controller instead of a joystick. The NES revolutionised gaming since the games were developed for home markets, earning Nintendo a huge profit. It also sparked and revived the home video game market which continues to throw and expand because of this. Companies such as Sony and Sega also started creating their own home video game systems.
Today, video games are part of the culture and routine and is a new media subculture which has evolved due to the games. The games themselves are developed by a developer who is knowledgeable in a number of programming languages or a large business. The type of game is influenced by the language used to design it. Some of the most popular ones are Java games, Flash games and ios games created using Objective C. By far, the most programming language which is being used in the gaming industry is C++.
The current generation of games and games are raised on crystal clear high definition graphics of Xboxes and Playstations with a tide of virtual reality games set in the approaching future. Not only are they played by kids and teenagers, the video game culture hosts some of the widest range of ages seen among any other field.
The future of gaming is going to take a revolutionary stance with the inception of the Virtual reality concept which lets the users enter a virtual space to interact with people from around the world by creating a customisable avatar for themselves. This is accomplished using a virtual reality headset being perfected by companies such as Facebook, Microsoft, Song, Samsung and LG which lets the user experience the virtual reality world by strapping the headset over their faces. Thus, the future of gaming has a lot of potential to grow and expand and provide its users with a thrilling and exciting experience.
